Misconception: EMDR is a new and untested therapy

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, has been around since the late 1980s and has been thoroughly researched and tested in that time. In fact, there are now over 30 years of research and clinical practice supporting the effectiveness of EMDR in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and more.

 

One of the things that sets EMDR apart from other therapies is its focus on the body-mind connection. By using bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, EMDR helps to activate the brain's natural healing processes. This leads to a reduction of symptoms, improved emotional regulation, and greater overall well-being.
