Emily Anhalt is a psychotherapist and psychological consultant practicing in San Francisco, California. In this 15-minute talk at TEDx Syracuse University, she shares her experiences growing up as a child with ADHD. Reflecting on what she believe it takes to be successful, two questions are important: What are the things that give you strength? What are the things that hold you back? Firmly believing that “Brilliance is absent without the presence of darkness, no matter where you are or what you do, strive to be great in spite of your circumstances,” she explains how the symptoms have contributed to the occupational and financial success of many people with ADHD.
