Online Sessions via Zoom

I have specialized in online mental health services, and I have found that they can be even better than traditional therapy appointments. Our Zoom sessions are in fact virtual home visits, which results in a much more intimate form of therapy.

Also, if you travel often, live abroad, have a busy lifestyle, or value your privacy, online mental health services may be much more practical than office visits.

Cost and Insurance Coverage

Please note that I do not accept insurance for my services. Unless you are insured by certain specific insurers, it is more likely than not that you will not be reimbursed by your insurance company.

Out-of-Pocket

My clients have found there are some advantages to paying for services out-of-pocket. When you pay for our services directly, you have more control over your treatment and do not have to worry about insurance restrictions or waiting for approval. Additionally, paying out-of-pocket can help ensure that your privacy is protected, as insurance companies often require access to your personal health information. I am committed to ensuring that you feel that paying for my services directly is a worthwhile investment in your health and wellbeing.

What is ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)

I am Michiel Bosman, an online psychiatrist catering to clients around the world. I specialize in an approach called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

ACT is a type of therapy that is focused on helping individuals create a more meaningful and fulfilling life by developing psychological flexibility. Essentially, ACT helps you to better manage and respond to difficult thoughts and emotions that may be preventing you from living the life you want.

Identifying values and goals

So, how does ACT work? Well, in ACT we start by identifying your personal values and goals. What is important to you? What do you want to achieve in life? By focusing on these values and goals, we can begin to create a roadmap for making meaningful changes in your life.

Being in the present moment

ACT also emphasizes mindfulness, which is the practice of paying attention to the present moment without judgment. By developing mindfulness skills, you can become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations, and learn to respond to them in a more effective way.

Taking a step back

Another key component of ACT is defusion, which is the process of stepping back from your thoughts and recognizing that they are not necessarily true or helpful. By learning to defuse from your thoughts, you can develop a more flexible relationship with them, which can lead to a greater sense of psychological well-being.

Committed action

Finally, ACT encourages individuals to take action towards their values, even in the face of challenging thoughts and emotions. This is called committed action. By taking small steps towards your values, you can build momentum and create positive change in your life.
